What's in a Name?

Thank you, Initial Presents, Inc. for featuring my kids on your Facebook page!

Initial Presents is an adorable store in Buffalo, New York, owned and operated by my step-sister Debbie and her sister-in-law Patti. They carry every kind of gift you can imagine, ranging from home accessories to jewelry (they've been kind enough to sell my jewelry from time to time!) to clothing. And they do a ton of monogramming...

Debbie and her sisters gave me these cute monogrammed sweaters for my kids a couple of years ago. They have grown since then, of course, but we enjoyed the sweaters and it was fun not to have to tell everyone their names all the time when they wore them!

You can find the sweaters and more on their website (click here) and you can like them on FB by clicking here.

Think of the fun you could have with monogramming! I once saw a college-aged guy who had his phone number monogrammed on his shirt. A not-so-subtle way to advertise that he's available!

“A Necklace” by Kay Just Made My Day

6.JPG

The lovely, talented, and maker of all things cute and classy Kay Adams just mentioned me in her blog, Necklace a Day by Kay (I even got a picture!) For those of you unfamiliar with this jewel of a lady, Kay and her mother own Anthill Antiques in the historic Richmond, VA shopping district of Carytown. I make it a point to stop by her shop every time I’m in town – and she makes it a point to ensure I don’t walk out of there without one of her awesome creations!

Kay has a penchant for finding all sorts of everyday objects and turning them into beautiful necklaces. These are three of the pieces I have at home:

Her pieces are both elegant and esoteric; I think she has such a wonderful eye for detail and form. Plus, who couldn’t admire an eye that can see the potential in a plastic bumblebee?:

Kay, thanks so much for mentioning me in your blog! For the rest of you, if you are ever in the Richmond area make sure to stop by her store and take a look at what she has on offer. Tell her the “other” Martha sent you!

Thank You, Decor Medley!

A big thank you to Giorgina from the blog Decor Medley, for posting such a nice interview with me about my blog! Visit the rest of her blog for other interviews and decorating ideas!

Now that summer is unofficially over I will be back with lots more posts. Kids and other unexpected things took me away from my computer (not the least of which is the fact that my laptop crashed under the spell of some sugary kids' drink).

Enjoy and see you soon!
